Environmental and sustainability statement

How we work

Understand Learning is a small consultancy. Our main environmental impacts come from business travel, energy used by digital services and equipment, and the materials used in our work.

What we do

• work remotely where it is effective and use online meetings to avoid unnecessary travel;
• choose public transport for business journeys where practical;
• design digital-first research and learning materials, using print only when it adds value;
• keep equipment in use for as long as it remains secure and effective, then reuse or recycle it responsibly; and
• consider environmental performance when choosing major suppliers and services.

Keeping our claims clear

We don’t currently claim to be carbon neutral or net zero. As the consultancy grows, we will review our significant impacts and decide whether formal measurement and targets would improve our decisions.
